Western Civ Pwnage

By Luddie
This morning I think I did pretty well on a Western Civ test that I had serious questions about last night. I am sooooo pleased it went well and this is such a nice way to start off a day.

Currently jamming down to the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack and checking Pebble's blog. He's had it for a while and somehow I just didn't know about it. Not that I keep close tabs on this insidious tendency called blogging. It really is sad if you think about it...

Anyway, check out the new link on my blog to The Rock. Yup, that's the Pebble. Because he wrestles. And he's a ninja.

The goal of the day (and tomorrow) is to write a 3-4 page paper on the Caddo Indians. It's not that huge of an assignment but I want this one to be good because this is the last bit of my writing Dr. Johnson gets to see before next year. I'm not so worried about content as I am actually making a point out of all of it and supporting it well. I have an idea but I'm about to dive into some books to see if the idea is actually worth a hoot or not. :D

We took a yearbook photo for the Defenders of The Cause last night. (read: Yellowjacket newspaper staff.) I also had a very nice talk with... oh my gosh I'm so, so horrible with names. Anyway, it was Shroud's little sister and we recognized each other since last time we had met was at Shroud's wedding. She's going to school in Idaho and apparently they don't have their spring break until now. It was cool to see her again.

Other fascinating news... Strider and I played some DAOC last night... took our Vampiirs out to Molvik and captured a castle. Was great fun. And I got my Vampiir to level 41! I should dye her clothes yellow and red for the special occasion. ;p

My church here in Longview is doing a three-part seminar type thing on Sunday evenings, and I didn't go last week. This week I decided to, because Coda said it was pretty cool, and we all trust Coda on these sorts of things. ;D

Anyway, this... thing... is entitled "Pizza and Passion." So you can see the immediate pull to the college crowd there. The pizza! Duh.

Basically, we eat pizza and the pastor and his wife do these talks about finding out who you are and what your personality and strengths are, and what sorts of environments and tasks you would do best at. I'm not big on those sorts of things, but it was kind of interesting, and Mrs. Andrus certainly knows her stuff. I had no idea, but she is actually extremely knowledgable about counseling and workplace assessments and those sorts of things.

They threw a lot of hand-outs at us. I jokingly approached Pebble after I got back and said, "Alright now Pebble, I have all these wonderful papers and we are going to figure out who you are and then you have to pick your future career off this list. Ready?"

So apparently... I'm good with research and I should be a lawyer. Fantaaaaaaaastic. Either that or a photographer. Also funny how it lists math as a strong point of my personality type. Wish that would help with statistics. :D

I learned in chapel on Friday that Nancy Ortiz died. She was the 18-year old daughter of Dr. Ortiz, one of the electrical teachers here at LETU. I never really knew Nancy, but I had seen her around a lot. And then suddenly, she got some kind of viral infection that attacked her heart, and within the space of a few days she was dead.

It was one of those things where you get an email from a class teacher saying, "Yes, pray for Nancy," and you, unfortunately, don't think much of it, assuming she'll get better. And then she's gone. It was very sobering for the entire campus.

Pray for the Ortiz family.

First off, what does "Pwnage" mean? Me and 47 cocked our heads sideways on that one.

I got a message from the library today that the music CD I reserved, the Phantom of the Opera movie soundtrack was in for me to check out. Woot!!

Hope you make your well-supported point.

I'll check out Pebble's blog while reserving the right to randomly comment.

Please sent me a note naming in order all the people in the yearbook photo so I can add faces to names.

If you want to know what to do with you life, why not just ask your mother? :-D

" First off, what does "Pwnage" mean? Me and 47 cocked our heads sideways on that one."

Pwnage - Intentional internet mispelling of "ownage", used to indicate victory or loss. If you "pwned" something, you won, if you "got pwned" you lost badly. Pwnage would be the state of pwn.

example: "Wow, we totally pwned that other team!"

"Mr. E. pwned everyone on the stats test."

Although often when used in the negative sense, it will be replaced by the phrase "got rolled":

e.g. "We got rolled by the stats test."

This has been your internet language lecture for today, on Wed. there will be a 10min quiz...

Wow, thanks, Geoff! I feel so "in-the-know." You'll be an excellent person to refer to when I need help understanding the strange dialect bloggers often use. :-P

Something to say?
